Note that I have already done some work on the Debian packaging, including
fixing some problems with the old Ubuntu packages. The debian-/ubuntu-*
branches of this repo:

https://github.com/detly/macfanctld

...should be pretty much in line with Debian policy already, and can be
used with git-buildpackage.

You don't have to use it, but it might help you avoid duplicating work.
