[Raspbian-devel] Default Raspbian install

Hi everyone,

I have a default install of Raspbian.  For me, the main goal for this
system's use is to listen to Music.  I am not interested in other
distros for Raspberry Pi.

My RPI has speakers connected to the headphone jack but this sound is
not working on it.

I have tried the following command and got this error.

$ omxplayer -p -o local Fav-song1.mp3
* failed to open vchiq instance

Also, I have installed cmus, mpg123 and such command line music players
and got some ALSA error messages.  This RPI worked for a year without
any hitch.  Now, I am installing/reinstalling different distro on to
make this work.  Yesterday, I was successful with playing on mp3 file
but this was connected to the HDMI port (for Monitor during install).

Any help at this stage is appreciated.  Thank you in advance.
