[Android-tools-devel] Gradle or Ant?

I'm not sure, but I think the word is that users should get Gradle from somewhere else. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of Debian packaging?
Until somebody resolves the situation, does Ant work at least? Is that recommended? Are there special procedures for using Ant with Debian's tools as opposed to using it the Google Android SDK way?
