[Aptitude-devel] Bug#782777: apt-mark seems also affected (was: aptitude: marks certain packages as "new" and "not auto-installed" on every start of aptitude)

And once again me...

While I still think that's a coincidence, ...

I can partially reproduce this with pure apt -- but with both, 1.0.9.8
and 1.0.9.7:

# apt-mark showauto | fgrep libgcc-4.9-dev
# apt-mark showmanual | fgrep libgcc-4.9-dev
libgcc-4.9-dev
# apt-mark auto libgcc-4.9-dev
libgcc-4.9-dev set to automatically installed.
# apt-mark showauto | fgrep libgcc-4.9-dev
# apt-mark showmanual | fgrep libgcc-4.9-dev
libgcc-4.9-dev
#

While the markauto issue in aptitude may be caused by the same code
which causes the apt-mark issue above, the reason why these packages
always show up in aptitude's new packages list may be an aptitude-only
issue.

So I tend to clone that bug report to have two of them, one for
aptitude and one for apt.

What do the apt developers think?
