Dear Folks,
I am trying o use itrans on a Kubuntu Feisty system on a PC. I have compiled
from itrans, itrans-doc and itrans-fonts from Gutsy Sources using prevu and
installed them successfully:
sudo dpkg -l itrans itrans-doc itrans-fonts
gives
||/ Name Version Description
+++-==============-==============-============================================
ii itrans 5.3-4~7.04prev Converts romanized Indic texts to Latex, HTM
ii itrans-doc 5.3-4~7.04prev Documentation for the ITRANS Indic text proc
ii itrans-fonts 5.3-4~7.04prev fonts used in the ITRANS Indic text processi
However, on using itrans to compile a file called totaka.itx, using:
------------
itrans -v -i totaka.itx -o x.tex
I got
** ITRANS 5.30 (8 July 2001) (TeX Interface)
Loading IFM file dvng.ifm ... (reading IFM file /usr/share/itrans/lib/dvng.ifm)
font.c::Error: could not open dvng10.tfm for reading (tfm)
Error: fillup font error (fill up from dvng.ifm)
Error: could not load in IFM file (line 46, #indianifm=dvng.ifm)
------------
------------
FYI,locate dvng10.tfm
gives the following system locations:
/usr/share/texmf-texlive/fonts/tfm/public/velthuis/dvng10.tfm
/usr/share/texmf/fonts/tfm/itrans-fonts/dvng10.tfm
and ls -al for these files gives:
ls -al /usr/share/texmf-texlive/fonts/tfm/public/velthuis/dvng10.tfm
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1576 2006-06-19 20:26
/usr/share/texmf-texlive/fonts/tfm/public/velthuis/dvng10.tfm
and
ls -al /usr/share/texmf/fonts/tfm/itrans-fonts/dvng10.tfm
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1556 2007-06-23 09:10
/usr/share/texmf/fonts/tfm/itrans-fonts/dvng10.tfm
Further, I get:
ls -al /usr/share/itrans/lib/dvng.?fm
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 34003 2007-06-23 09:10 /usr/share/itrans/lib/dvng.ifm
------------
Are you in a position to assist, please? I am happy to try out any minimal file
you may suggest to try tracing this problem.
FYI, this file worked with the manually installed itrans that used at one time,
but I thought I would give the Debian-based Ubuntu packages a go and have foundered.
Thanks in advance.
Chandra
