Hi.

Lets take care of the easy ones first which are Debian packaging
related . Q1 and Q2 are probably upstream issues.

Q3: I am unsure about what "Why in previous command, my configuration
for logfile does not appear to be taken into account ?" actually means.
I assume there is a log file and it is written to but the name is not
the one you choose. Correct?

I can however not reproduce this locally. After changing the
configuration and doing a

$ sudo service mosquitto restart

I see

$ ls -l /var/log/mosquitto/
insgesamt 172
-rw------- 1 mosquitto mosquitto    554  8. Apr 06:03 log_mosquitto.log

Even if I start mosqitto with 

$sudo mosquitto -v

it writes to log_mosquitto.log.

Q4: We are providing a sysvinit script for convenience and for use by
Devuan but I am unwilling to support this. I am sorry for this but life
with one init system is difficult enough. 

Please report this to Devuan.
