I didn't do the original packaging and I personally would trust you as
obviously active user.  Please check the BTS whether there were some old
bugs about naming conflicts which would be a pretty good reason for
"hiding" the binaries.

If you would like to move the binaries I would welcome if you try hard
with help2man or whatever to create manpages.
