sorry, the above command was not correct, it was missing "commit".

    pristine-tar commit ../bedtools_<version>.orig.tar.gz v<version>

This is just the equivalent of "gbp import-orig ../../bedtools_<version>.orig.tar.gz",
except it only modifies the pristine-tar branch.
