[Debian-med-packaging] Bug#859343: praat: Chinese characters not displaying in text annotations

Package: praat
Version: 5.4.0-1
Severity: normal
Tags: l10n

I'm running Praat under an UTF-8 locale and have all the necessary fonts
installed. I can see Chinese characters in Praat's text input box
(white on top of the screenshot), but not on the annotation area (yellow
on bottom):

This issue was originally reported by a Ubuntu 16.04 user with praat
6.0.04 [1], who sees the same behavior:

The manual page says that Chinese characters should be supported in text
annotations. There seems to be no option to change the display font of
this area.
