[Debian-med-packaging] Could you imagine to convert dicompyler to Python3? [Was: dicompyler is marked for autoremoval from testing]

Hi Vojtěch,

in March last year you took over the maintenance of the dicompyler
package and fixed severe issues upstream. Sooner or later dicompyler
needs to be ported to Python3 if we want to keep it inside Debian. When
reading #908555 there is a chance to get python-dicom without
python-gdcm which would save dicompyler for the moment - but the upcoming
Buster release is the past one shipping Python2. So if we are serious
about dicompyler we should probably push the Python3 migration even now.

I could probably fire up 2to3 and check whether the result builds and
starts the GUI - but that's all I could do. I'd prefer to put this task
in your hands. To enable you doing this I've sent you an invitation to
salsa.debian.org which is the replacement for Alioth. You can find the
packaging for dicompyler here:

    https://salsa.debian.org/med-team/dicompyler

Please let me know if you want to work on this and also if you need more
detailed help to get up and running with Salsa.

Kind regards

      Andreas.

dicompyler 0.4.2.0-1 is marked for autoremoval from testing on 2018-10-25

It (build-)depends on packages with these RC bugs:
908555: pydicom: pydicom build depends on the removed python-gdcm
