This is true for libdeflate 1.7 in Debian stable ...

while Ubuntu 20.04 is possibly based on some later version where this is
fixed.  Would it help you if we do a backport of deflate 1.10-2 to
stable?  Since Debian is fixing only RC bugs in stable it is not
possible to help you otherwise.
