Good points.  I've been using gitg, which displays things nicely, but
doesn't make it straightforward to extract patches or move them between
repositories.  I'll try gitk.

Also, I have been trying to keep my commit notes small, like changelog
entries.  But you're right that it's better to have more detail in them,
so I'll copy your full entries from now on.

I'm afraid I saw this message from you *after* committing some changes
this morning...

Ah, good idea, I'll try this.  I think this variable was in upstream's
runSalome script, maybe from 3.2.6?
