I damit libblitz++ is quite poorly maintained (and dead upstream).  I
tried to keep it alive inside the Debian Science team but I must admit
it is very low on my priority list - you might regard it de facto
orphaned (at least from my side).  In short:  implying some reason for
things that are implemented is not necessary valid.  If you see some
chance to enhance the package please send a patch to this bug report
(and please ping me for an upload if I do not respond in a reasonable
time frame).
