Status of med-fichier in Debian

Hi Debian Science Maintainers,

The med-fichier package in Debian is stuck at upstream release 4.1.0.

Upstream has the bad habit to tie med-fichier major releases to HDF5 ones:


med-fichier  HDF5
4.x          1.10.x
5.x          1.12.x
6.x          1.14.x

No med-fichier release supports HDF5 2.1.0 yet. Since their 6.0.0 
release was from a few months ago I don't expect a 7.x supporting HDF5 
2.1.0 soon :(

I'm tired of this package (of which I have no use) and I don't want to 
maintain it anymore. Any volunteer to take it over?

The other alternative is to remove it from Debian. But unfortunately it 
still has a reverse dependency: freecad. See [1].
