[Debichem-devel] What about cloning Debian GIS (or Debian Med) policy?

Hi folks,

since I think OpenMM is better suited inside DebiChem than Debian Med I
decided to put it into DebiChem space. Upstream seems to be comfortable
with Git more than SVN and since there are some packages in DebiChem
also maintained in Git I'm naively assuming that you are fine with SVN
or Git at maintainers preference.

To simplify creating Git directories I shamelessly copied the setup
script from Debian Science into

   /git/debichem/packages/setup-repository

This fits with various policies of packaging teams (originally invented
by Debian Perl team). Speaking about a team policy IMHO it would help
to invite newcomers if you would maintain such a document also for
DebiChem. Recently the Debian GIS team cloned and adapted the Debian
Med policy document. Thus I would recommend cloning from Debian GIS
since this has undergone some revision and might contain some
enhancements which are not (yet implemented in Debian Med policy).

There was some idea of autogenerating such a document for different
Blends since there are a lot of similarities - in several cases you just
need to exchange names of repositories and teams.

I confirm that having this kind of policy document helped the Debian Med
team a lot to be inviting to newcomers.

Kind regards

       Andreas.
