It's pretty easy to get Debian up and running on the Pogoplug. Check
out Jeff Doozan's tutorials http://jeff.doozan.com/debian/ and forums
for more info http://forum.doozan.com/

I have a couple of Dockstars running Debian Squeeze (from a USB drive)
and have been using them as 24/7 servers. I've also been using the
Dockstar as a platform for my PirateBox project. I've documented some
of this work on my wiki:
http://wiki.daviddarts.com/Debian_on_the_Seagate_Dockstar
http://wiki.daviddarts.com/Debian_on_the_Seagate_Dockstar_Post-Installation
http://wiki.daviddarts.com/PirateBox

Best,
David
