Sounds like you've got a pretty good solution there.

Personally, I've been looking for some time for a way to chat with
other FBX or debian users securely.  I've been looking with Jonas at
some of the XMPP solutions, but haven't quite got there yet.
Retroshare worked for me pretty well so far, and has a bunch of other
features.  The nice thing was i didnt have to make a new ID or
account, it hooked straight in to the GPG id that all FBX users will
have already.

If you can find anything other solutions, would love to try them out with you!
