I personally like that idea.

This isn't common to use in IPv4 LAN though, as IPv4 isn't designed for
that, though it works. It is a design goal behind IPv6, where you least you
get 2^64 address in a LAN. Usually you only get 2^8, or less in an IPv4 LAN.

So yes, I do like the idea for smaller privat LAN where there isn't that
many addresses and devices.

Anyway, I wouldn't use the addresses that ends with .[1-9] and .[250-254]
in a IPv4 LAN, as they on accation are used for infrastructures like
routers, printers, etc.
