[Freedombox-discuss] Freedombox on Raspberry PI

I guess the answer is to sit on my hands and work with Raspbian for now. I'm more interested in helping Freedombox than I am helping those sell-outs. Just last night I watched Bdale give a speech from 2013 Debcon talking about the level of intrusion from Google, Twitter and Facebook.

Seems to me that all three have been ramping this up by buying up essential services and wedging in where it can't buy in. Mozilla for example, took a nice little sweetener for bundling Google as the default search engine. We all know we can change it and we all know that almost no one does.

Google in particular is like a drug dealer, getting people hooked on its services and then making them pay - with their private data. At least we *know* Facebook is doing that (and I don't like Facebook for it either). Technologies like DNT are willfully ignored an the cookie law enacted by the EU would be laughable if it hadn't been so inconvenient to people who were not abusing cookies.
I'm talking to my representative soon and preparing a file on all of this (hence my initial interested in FreedomBox). I'm not as geeky as most of you, partly because of my advancing age, partly because of my lack of mathematical skills and mostly because I just haven't kept up!

Clearly I've got to rummage through the documentation more because I want to write a couple of modules and I can't expect you all to hold my hand. Although I can code, documentation is probably my strongest suit - so that's where I can put my time when I figure out how to made edits without screwing everything up.

Guess I'd better get myself one of those Lime 2 boxes - so I can hoist Raspbian by the yard arm. I can donate those boxes to friends so they can run Privoxy and enjoy some additional privacy. Thank you all for all that you do. The less geeky of us out here are only just starting to feel the heat.
Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the Open Source. It's time to take back the web!
