Mail is a complex beast for non sysadmins. Specially from a home machine
ip. Its nice but not sure if its a good focus for this day an age.
Specially looking at how long it takes to develop a solution and the man
power available ( 2018 and still is not done!)

One clear use case i see for a home server is a tool to ease degoogling
your phone
