Hello,
I am trying to get the neurodebian VM up and running on a fairly new
iMac running OS 10.6. I managed to download the zip file, but the
download was very slow (I don't think it's something local - other
downloads before and after were quite quick). When I try to extract it
using the Mac Archive Utility, I get the following error:
Unable to unarchive "neurodebian_6.0.1_amd64.zip" into "Desktop".
(Error 1 - Operation not permitted).
Checking the permissions of the file, though, there seems to be no problem.
Next, I tried to extract it using tar. This is what I get then:
Chevre:Downloads $tar -xf neurodebian_6.0.1_amd64.zip
NeuroDebian_6.0.1_amd64.vmdk: Truncated ZIP file body: Inappropriate
file type or format
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.
Hmm - seems worrying, but I continue trying. When I try to "import the
appliance" in VirtualBox it manages to open the ovf file and seems to
read the properties of this OK. I agree to the terms and conditions
and then get the following error:
Failed to import appliance
/Users/arokem/Desktop/NeuroDebian_6.0.1_amd64.ovf.
Could not open the medium
'Users/arokem/Desktop/NeuroDebian_6.0.1_amd64.vmdk'
VD: error VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_FORMAT opening image file
'/Users/arokem/Desktop/NeuroDebian_6.0.01_amd64.vmdk'
(VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_FORMAT)
Under 'details', I get the following:
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Medium
Interface: IMedium {1d578f43-5ef1-4415-b556-7592d3ccdc8f}
Unfortunately, this is only the first of 2 (the error dialogue has a
little arrow which allows me to toggle to the next one). The second
one has the following message:
Failed to import appliance
/Users/arokem/Desktop/NeuroDebian_6.0.1_amd64.ovf.
Could not find a hard disk with location
'/Users/arokem/Library/VirtualBox/HardDisks/NeuroDebian_6.0.1_amd64.vmdk'
in the media registry
('/Users/arokem/Library/VirtualBox/VirtualBox.xml').
Under 'details', I get this:
Result Code: VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (0x80BB0001)
Component: VirtualBox
Interface: IVirtualBox {3f36e024-7fed-4f20-a02c-9158a82b44e6}
I thought that it might be something with the download, so I repeated
this twice, just to be sure. I am still not sure, though, especially
given the inordinate time it took to download the zip file. Has anyone
else seen anything like this? Am I doing something wrong?
Cheers,
Ariel
