Actually, the names in the first line of the lsusb output are derived
from the VID/PID (the lookup table is usb.ids, either somewhere in
/usr/share, or in /var/lib/misc/ on Debian/Ubuntu).
I might use Peter's example of a fictitious company name for 'vendor',
and use APC's hex ID for an APC example.
