I was lucky, it accepted my password, but ignored the public key I had
uploaded.

So, now I did a "ssh nba-guest at svn.debian.org", to find out that there
was no .ssh directory there. It seems that it never synchronized the key
over there.

I just now created the .ssh/authorized_keys2 file by hand, and now svn
is happily connecting without asking for my password.
