Charles and Arjen posts should already have answered all your questions.

Some more comments:
- the svn copy mentioned by Charles is the best way,
- first work on the trunk. When the driver is stable enough and well
integrated, we'll check to backport it to Testing for 2.0.x,
- the gamatronic in the Testing branch _must not_ be removed. This
will be done in 2.2.
2.0 including your new sec driver will manage a transition period,
announcing this future replacement in many places (have a look at the
megatec process).
