Never mind. I'll apply my patch for SuSE builds separately (as it does
not build for all platforms without it) and test it. It's not a big
issue anyway.
Full integration with hal would probably need static hal prober ("probe"
will happen against configuration file instead of hardware probes). It
is already planned, but not yet written feature. It would help a lot in
more areas (serial UPS and other serial devices, non-PnP sound cards,
extended AT keyboards models etc.)
