That is a limitation of the hardware (assuming that you actually see the various OL/OB/LB status changes): http://www.networkupstools.org/docs/man/richcomm_usb.html

If the richcomm_usb driver does not show proper status changes, then the UPS is different than the previous model with the same name, and the real protocol is not known.
