[Nut-upsdev] Error "Data for UPS [pcmusb] is stale - check driver"

Dear Mr. Greg Troxel,

Firstly, thank you so very much for your response back. Sincerely appreciate the same.

Secondly, the reason we are using NUT Version 2.8.0 because it has been tested thoroughly both in our LAB as well as within the actual Production environment on our different 4G LTE router models. You see this version is working perfectly well on our existing 4G LTE router model with all the 3 UPS models currently. BUT when we test this same version on our new 4G LTE router model it is not working with 2 out of the 3 UPS models. So our team does not think that upgrading to the latest NUT Version 2.8.2 could possibly fix the encountered error. Logically if a particular version of NUT, which has been installed on a specific 4G LTE router model, works well with all the 3 UPS models then shouldn't it work well in the same way when it is installed on another 4G LTE router model?

Thirdly, I mentioned the version as 2.8.0-3 due to the output shown in the image below. Maybe you are right. The actual Version should be 2.8.0 and not 2.8.0-3. My sincere apologies for the accidental oversight.

Lastly, you are right. I do not belong to the nut-upsdev community since I am not a developer and not handling development within my organization. The reason I posted my e-mail about the error "Data for UPS [pcmusb] is stale - check driver" to the e-mail address "'nut-upsdev at alioth-lists.debian.net'" is so that I can know whether any developer has encountered the same error as our team has encountered and whether there is any concrete solution to fix it. That was the original objective. Not to ask someone to help fix our encountered issue free of charge. That has never the original intention and objective. Hope you will understand.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

You have two problems right there.

Most importantly, the most recent release of nut is 2.8.2, from April of

2024. 2.8.0 is from April of 2022. Many things have been fixed. I

personally do not engage in troubleshooting out of date code.

(There have also been fixes since 2.8.2; there are 1658 commits on master after the v2.8.2 tag.)

Secondly, there is no nut version 2.8.0-3. That is almost certainly the version of a package provided by some packaging system.

Therefore, my advice is to build current nut sources from git master and test those. Perhaps also 2.8.2.

Perhaps you have a support contract with somebody (in which case this should ahve been sent to them and not the list), but assuming that's not true, please keep in mind that you have received software at no charge and now you are asking for help at no charge.

Also, your email belonged on nut-upsuser instaed of nut-upsdev. I suggest you start over there after you have compiled and tested with up to date code.
