because I'm not sure it's a user or a package problem. if it's a package
one, then I'll do a bug report in the BTS of course ;)

well, there is a lot of output. my mge is found,

there is a HUUUUUGE output. then is stops for a few seconds (2-3) and
there is some output, and stops, that again and again.

I can provide the output if needed.

I followed the README, so yes I'm sure.

for the record :

[root papyrus] cat ups.conf
# Network UPS Tools: ups.conf

[mge650]
    driver = mge-shut
    port   = /dev/ttyS0
    notification=1

(I've tested notifications=3 it does not fix the problem)

[root papyrus] ll
total 24
-rw-r-----  1 root nut   105 2005-08-18 17:56 ups.conf
-rw-r-----  1 root nut  1375 2005-08-18 17:55 upsd.conf
-rw-r-----  1 root nut   210 2005-08-18 16:43 upsd.users
-rw-r-----  1 root nut 11180 2005-08-18 17:55 upsmon.conf
[root papyrus] ll /dev/ttyS0
crw-rw----  1 nut nut 4, 64 2005-08-22 10:01 /dev/ttyS0

Cheers,
