[Nut-upsuser] Little help with NUT on a Energizer UPS

Wade,
First of all, the Energizer driver is an experimental driver that, I
understand, is not installed by default in most distributions. Which means
that you may have to start with NUT from the source, and explicitly include
this driver for compilation.
Second, the driver has problems with newer versions of the Linux kernel; in
fact, I just submitted a patch that makes it work again on kernel 2.6.15.
Third, the driver will NOT work with newer versions of the UPS. Last year,
it appears, Energizer dumped the kludgy serial-to-USB interface (that showed
up as an HID joystick, for crying out loud!) and replaced it a new interface
that shows up as a PowerCOM USB UPS. Unfortunately it seems to me that the
PowerCOM driver in NUT only works through the serial port at present (I may
be wrong.)
Well, hope this helps, perhaps to solve your problem but at least to avoid
spending more time on it needlessly.
Viktor

Im a fairly new user to linux, Ubuntu specifically, and am trying to
understand this NUT. I have a Energizer HMOF600 that I used when I was
still on windows. I didnt even realize it wasnt working until the power
went off this weekend. Someone in the Ubuntu forums suggested NUT. I did
a search and found a link saying my UPS was covered by NUT.
I have installed NUT via Synaptic. I also installed the cgi web
interface. I followed the instructions on putting the example files in
the other folder. When I open the web connection it says:
Local UPS - error: Connection Failure: Connection refused.
My UPS has a USB connection.
Some help would be much appreciated.
Wade
