NUT depends on libusb to access your USB UPS (except for the
energizerups driver). If your system is attaching the HID driver to
your UPS, then libusb will most likely not be able to attach to the
UPS.

I vaguely remember hearing that the Solaris USB stack was inspired by
BSD. In FreeBSD, you can disable the generic HID driver (uhid) without
affecting any HID mouse or keyboard, but I do not know about other
BSDs or Solaris.

Can you run the test program that comes with libusb? Does it list your
UPS there?
