Arnaud, thanks for pointing that out - I assumed it was like the *BSD
kernels where you have to rebuild the entire kernel, not just
reconfigure.
Zoltan: you may have to check the system logs to find the exact USB
VID/PID for your UPS. Most likely the VID is 0x9ae, and the PID might
be 0x1 or 0x2001 (from memory, not sure).
