You have to upgrade to at least 2.2.2. It is possible that you'll have to 
install the version from svn trunk. You can try to install the package from 
lenny (2.2.2). It's better to use backports though. Or compile from source.

If you want I can easily make backported packages for etch (clean with 
pbuilder) and send to you.
