This is a problem with older versions of the megatec_usb (and megatec)  
drivers, which would call a communications problem at the first  
failure to poll the UPS. This has been fixed in nut-2.2.2, so if it  
bothers you, upgrade to the latest stable version.

Please forget about the above. This is something that used to work  
ages ago, but this has long been solved (in nut-1.4 if memory serves).  
You basically should never have to change MAXAGE and/or DEADTIME from  
the defaults anymore.
