Hi All,
I have an mge pulsar esv 14+ rackmount UPS connected via straight
through serial cable to a USB to serial adaptor (My motherboard does
not have a native RS232 port).
I am running Ubuntu Server 9.04 x64, and nut 2.4.1-2ubuntu4 installed via APT.
I am getting the error:
Poll UPS [ups1 at localhost] failed - Driver not connected
My conf files:
(ups.conf)
[ups1]
driver=mge-utalk
port=/dev/ttyUSB0
(upsd.conf)
ACL all 0.0.0.0/0
ACL localhost 127.0.0.1/32
ACCEPT localhost
REJECT all
(upsd.users)
[monuser]
allowfrom = localhost
password = pass
upsmon master
(upsmon.conf)
MONITOR ups1 at localhost 1 monuser pass master
SHUTDOWNCMD "/sbin/shutdown -h +0"
Here is my syslog output:

I am fairly sure the USB to serial adaptor is working correctly
according to dmesg:
[ 8.939008] USB Serial support registered for generic
[ 8.939032] usbserial: USB Serial Driver core
[ 8.948625] USB Serial support registered for pl2303
[ 8.960655] usb 8-2: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0
[ 8.960675] pl2303: Prolific PL2303 USB to serial adaptor driver
When I run:
sudo /lib/nut/mge-utalk -DDD -a ups1
I get:
Network UPS Tools - MGE UPS SYSTEMS/U-Talk driver 0.89 (2.4.1)
debug level is '3'
initinfo: 'Si 1' unavailable, switching to 'Si' command
Syst Stat ><
Batt Stat ><
Load Stat ><
Bypass Stat ><
... etc
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Phil
