The pollinterval parameter has no influence on the communication
between server and client, so this shouldn't be a problem. But rather
than increasing that, I would first increase the pollfreq (setting
this lower than pollinterval is pointless anyway). So in ups.conf

[whatever]
     driver = usbhid-ups
     port = auto
     pollinterval = 10
     pollfreq = 120

would be much safer. Increasing pollfreq dramatically reduces the
number of reports that are read from the UPS, while still allowing the
essential ones to be read more frequently.

Are you monitoring multiple UPS devices from the same system? If so,
post your ups.conf file here.

Best regards, Arjen

PS Changing the value of POLLFREQ in upsmon.conf is an extremely bad
idea. Don't even consider this.
