Sounds like this, along with several bugs listed on the mailing list
lately, would have been solved by simply building for sources, not
installing a binary package (and then wishing for the correct version of
libraries).
Maybe it's time to stop shipping those binary packages and simply ship a
self-contained source that could batch-compile itself (something similar
to the ports structure of bsd)?
