While USB 2.0 is a superset of 1.x, the USB 2.0 High Speed devices are sometimes handled by a different driver than the Full Speed (12 Mbit) and Low Speed (1.5 Mbit) devices.
You might need either a full-speed USB host controller driver (uhci-hcd or ohci-hcd) in addition to ehci-hcd, or your hardware might need an external High Speed to Full Speed rate-matching hub.
