The build instructions in the source code and on the documentation
you can download from the web site are pretty good.

    https://networkupstools.org/docs/user-manual.chunked/_installation_instructions.html

Myself I am on Debian and did have to recently build the HEAD
version of git from source, in which case these instructions result
in binaries that behave a lot like those from a Debian package
(expected paths, nut user, etc), so they are suitable for installing
over a previous Debian installation:

    https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/wiki/Building-NUT-on-Debian,-Raspbian-and-Ubuntu

Follow one or the other and let us know where you get stuck?

Thanks,
Andy

PS Is the list server behaving properly?

    1. When I tried to subscribe here I never got the subscribe
challenge email (and my mail server never saw it either) so I
had to ask -owner to be manually added.

    2. I haven't seen any of these replies hit the mailing list;
I've only seen the cc that went to me.

    3. Wondering if it was because the list is set to not send me
messages it thinks I have already seen, I went to
check/change my list options to disable that, but I can't log
in because I was manually subscribed and don't know my
password. So I did a password reset from:

       https://alioth-lists.debian.net/cgi-bin/mailman/options/nut-upsuser

which results in a 500 Internal Server Error. SO at the very
least I know password resets aren't available.
