Hi,

As I wrote in [1], I think it is plausible that at least some of the 
reported issues have since been fixed in imaplib2. If we ever want to 
support IDLE, there aren't really other, better options. Additionally, 
I've interacted with Piers Lauder, the upstream author of both imaplib 
and imaplib2, and he's relatively responsive -- if we do uncover bugs 
and stability issues in imaplib2, I think reporting them upstream would 
be the way to go.
