umask of messages

Yep, you are right of course.

I to am seeing -rwxr-xr-x for my mail files. Interesting, and while not
bad, this is not what I would expect. I'll see if we can not set the
default umask to something better. What group permissions would people
prefer to see if we introduce an explicit mode?
