My setup is described at:

When TMPDIR is on tmpfs, I get errors like:

Please note that I discovered this bug with initscripts_2.88dsf-27
(exactly about /dev/null): however, given that `pbuilder --update`
worked with no problem, I simply thought about a temporary problem and
did not investigate more until today.
