implemented something for piuparts using openpty() and select(), but
didn't like the result: the whole piuparts logfile is cluttered with ^M
etc and becomes unreadable since apt thinks it can do funny stuff if
there is a controlling terminal ...

so lets not fix what ain't borked :-)
