Yes, --warn-on-others indeed works around this problem with its
piuparts-depends-dummy package. But as the manpage says:

| --warn-on-others
|     Print a warning rather than failing if files are left behind, modified, or removed by a package that was not given on the command-line.
|     This way, you can basically isolate the purge test to your own packages. If a package that is brought in as a dependency doesn’t purge cleanly, the test will not fail because of it (but a
|     warning message will be printed).

To me this seems unrelated to the piuparts-depends-dummy package
from the user's PoV, IMHO.

So it would be nice if we could come up with something like a
--force-dummy-package option to get the piuparts-depends-dummy but
without enforcing the "Print a warning rather than failing if files
are left behind [...]" behaviour.
