Package: alsa-source
Version: 0.9.8-3

Start of alsa fails with the message

snd-au8810.o: unresolved symbol snd_mpu401_uart_interrupt
snd-au8810.o: unresolved symbol snd_ac97_mixer
snd-au8810.o: unresolved symbol snd_mpu401_uart_new

The modules

  snd-ac97-codec.o
  snd-mpu401-uart.o
  snd-mpu401.o

that provide these symbols are not compiled if one selects exclusively
the au8810 driver in the post-installation process of alsa-source
(or during dpkg-reconfigure alsa-source).
The Makefiles should be modified to solve this problem.

I am using Debian GNU/Linux 3.1, kernel 2.4.23
and libc6 2.3.2.ds1-10.

Hi,

I just built an alsa-modules package from an alsa-source only
building the au8810 module, and depmod runs sucessfully:

steven@blerk:.../pci/au88x0% pwd
/tmp/linda-lab-97735/unpacked/lib/modules/2.6.8-1-686/alsa/pci/au88x0
steven@blerk:.../pci/au88x0% sudo depmod -F
/boot/System.map-2.6.8-1-686 -v ./snd-au8810.ko
steven@blerk:.../pci/au88x0%

I am closing this bug report with this message.

Cheers,
