As part of its detection algorithm, alsaconf attempts to load modules. 
I believe it unloads them when it's finished.  It does not add module
names to /etc/modules.  The user is expected to arrange for module
loading some other way---e.g., by using discover or by adding the module
name to /etc/modules by hand.
