Jul 22 10:20:53 nuit kernel: ALSA ../alsa-kernel/core/pcm_lib.c:204: BUG: stream = 0, pos = 0x2000, buffer size = 0x2000, period size = 0x40

straight from my syslog. also, i noticed something. i think it may be
related to a bug report that i saw concerning snd-pcm-oss, in that i
randomly get hard freezes - dunno why, i haven't been able to track it
down yet, and my logs up until now haven't shown anything out of the
ordinary, so it's quite hard for me to check. but i got this message
(paste above) several times in my syslog. i've also done the ksymoops
thing, and didn't see anything that would cause freezes (TMK anyway, and
i've shared what i had with others on some IRC channels (#debian being
one of them)).

well, to get to what i was saying, just before this boot, i had a
freeze, but just when i was using xmms - now the sound driver is oss,
but it's oss emu under alsa drivers.. ..i'm aware dmasound is pretty
fubar too, but it's more dmasound_pmac that has the issues, TMK. from
what i've gathered, i think this may have to do with my freezes (hoping
that i've finally found the source ;). why i think this is that i've
been using alsa drivers since about .18 or .19, and i've had this kind
of freeze. i looked and i looked, but never found anything that would
cause it.

cheers,
eric

I am closing bug reports against alsa-source that are more than one year
old and that relate to upstream aspects of the package. The reports are
too old to be of any use now.
