There is no legal problem at all.

There is no problem for us: it just makes our "copyright" file a bit longer.
So it's your choice whether or not to extend the option.  All I will say is
that every other program in alsa-tools does include the option.

If you decide to add the option then it would be helpful if you sent us a
message so that we don't overlook the change.
