[Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#477991: libasound2: very high CPU usage

Package: libasound2
Version: 1.0.16-1
Severity: important

With libasound2 1.0.16 many music players (e.g. mpg123-alsa, mpg321,
ogg123) take a huge amount of CPU to play music.

Playing a short song with mpg321, I get results like:
real 2m32.276s
user 0m25.310s
sys 0m47.259s

With libasound 1.0.15, it looks much more reasonable:
real 2m32.188s
user 0m2.212s
sys 0m0.108s

If there's anything I can do to help debug this, please ask.
