I spoke to a release team member when I saw your message yesterday. I'm
not sure they are going to allow ALSA 1.0.17 at this point in the
release process, unfortunately.

I'm going to send an email to the release list and see what happens. If
they don't allow it, we'll have to upload to experimental.

Also, do you have a clear picture of how many important or serious bugs
upgrading to 1.0.17 would fix, if any?
