Looks you'ra running the correct driver -> snd-trident

Yeahh, udev points you to the correct driver.

What the hell is that file for. modutils isn't present since ages.
This file can be deleted completely. Its an heritage from kernels <
2.6.6.

Could you please rmmod snd_intel8x0m and test again. BTW, can you
hear sound. Be sure the relevat output controllers aren't mutted and
set to a level > 30%. Test it with alsamixer.
